An extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Madford Farm. The large semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 100m in length by 45m in width and abuts, and so likely post-date, a historic field boundary along its northern edge. The extraction pit is located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded during this survey. It remains visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
