Earthwork banks of possible medieval to post-medieval field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Lower Bodmiscombe Farm. The two sets of curvilinear and parallel banks are broadly northeast to southwest aligned and are situated on, and respecting, gentle southeast facing slope. The earthwork banks largely correspond to field boundaries depicted here on the Parish Tithe Map, although by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s these boundaries have passed out of use. The double-set of banks which characterise these boundaries are interesting and may suggest the presence of a trackway or hollow-way at some point here. The earthworks are clearly visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
