Summary

Possible field boundaries of between medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Abbey Wood Farm. Possible field boundaries of between medieval to post-medieval date are visible as earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Abbey Wood Farm. The two parallel and north to south aligned earthworks closely respect the historic field patterns depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although appear to have passed out of use by this time. The possible earthworks should however be viewed with some caution and it is possible given their indistinct nature they are the result of modern cultivation. They are not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
