An earthwork ditch of a possible post-medieval to 19th century field boundary is visible on aerial photographs of 1989 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Burnsome Cottage. It appears to truncate through an earthwork mound or mounds of possible slag heaps.

An earthwork ditch of a possible post-medieval to 19th century field boundary is visible on aerial photographs of 1989 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Burnsome Cottage. The earthwork ditch is linear in shape, is northeast to southwest aligned and appears to truncate through an earthwork mound or mounds (MDV56373) of possible slag heaps. The field boundary is not depicted on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, so appears to have passed out of use by this time.
