The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, within Mackham Copse. The sub-oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 37m in length by 30m in width. Mackham Copse is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90, the copse possibly being established here following the abandonment of the extraction pit. The earthwork is not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images owing to tree cover here.
