Three former field boundaries were visible as earthwork banks on aerial photographs of the 1940s and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on the north-west facing slopes overlooking the River Otter, Monkton Parish.
The earthworks were up to 3 metres wide and appear to fall within the extant field pattern, which has been characterised as being of probable post-medieval date.
The banks do not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of the 1880s-1890s, and were probably therefore removed prior to this date. It is possibly that these earthworks are the same as some of those referred to as part of record MDV114930.
