An earthwork bank and pit were visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 as earthworks on the south-facing slopes below Shaugh Farm, Luppitt Parish. The pit is semi-circular in plan and approximately 45 by 25 metres in size. The bank is circa 4 metres wide and visible for circa 66 metres, defining the south-west edge of the pit. The bank is interpreted as a former field boundary and the pit as evidence of an extractive activity, such as a gravel pit or marl pit, although the precise function is unknown. Neither earthwork corresponds with any features depicted on the Tithe Map for Luppit, and therefore probably passed out of use prior to the 1840s.
