An earthwork ditch of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, at Abbey Mill, with which the earthwork was possibly associated. The earthwork is curvilinear in shape and extends from the southern extent of Abbey Mill downslope towards Madford River. A small spur is visible off its southern edge. The earthwork does not obviously appear to form part of a relict field boundary, but perhaps more likely resembles a water channel, possibly associated in some way to the workings of the mill site (MDV1900). It remains clearly visible as an earthwork ditch on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016.
