A linear earthwork bank was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 and digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016 as a on the east bank of the River Otter, west of Monkton Village. The visible earthwork was 2.5 metres wide and 112 metres long. The earthwork is interpreted as a former field boundary of probable post-medieval date. No field boundary was depicted in this precise location on the Tithe Map for Monkton, supporting the interpretation that the boundary had been removed prior to the 1840s.
