A series of extraction pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Reddick’s Hill. The four earthworks are sub-oval and irregular in shape, measure between 14m to 38m in length and are located alongside the A30, on steep northwest facing slope. They have been recorded together as a single monument since they are all located within the same land parcel of ownership. The earthworks are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. The extraction pits were not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
