Summary
Extraction pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Reddick’s Hill. They are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

Full description
Bluesky International, 2016, LiDAR DTM data (0.5m resolution) Blackdown Hills and East Devon AONBs: 3 transects, LIDAR ST2005 Bluesky International DTM 30-APR-2016 & 04-MAY-2016 (Cartographic). SDV359714.
The extraction pits are visible as earthwork pits.

Extraction pits of between post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Reddick’s Hill. The northern of the two earthworks is semi-circular in shape and measures approximately 30m in length by 13m in width. That to the immediate south is sub-oval in shape and measures approximately 16m in length by 10m in width. They are located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. The extraction pits were not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
