Summary
An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northeast of Underdown Farm. It is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northeast of Underdown Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 54m in length by 43m in width and is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn. The extraction pit is not clearly visible on more recent aerial photographs or digital images owing to tree cover here.
