Summary

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1982 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Stoneburrow Cottage. It is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.

An extraction pit of between post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1982 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Stoneburrow Cottage. The irregular shaped earthwork, which is partly defined here as a dashed line on the Parish Tithe map, measures approximately 64m in length by 61m in width. It is located in an area where numerous similar such features have been recorded during this survey and from a walkover survey carried out in 2016 (MDV114110) associated with the A30/A303 improvement works between Honiton and Devonshire Inn.
