Full description

Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977 - 1980, SS31NE20 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV343680.

Visited on 13th October 1977. Lies in pasture on a crest, probable bowl barrow, diameter 19 metres, height 0.3 metres (Ordnance Survey drawing 1803-5 shows barrow).

Visited on 7th May 1979. Very slight mound.

A bowl barrow situated 130 metres north of Wrangworthy Cross on a high upland ridge overlooking the valley of a tributary to the River Torridge. It forms part of a round barrow cemetery which has clusters of barrows to the west and south-west. It survives as a circular mound measuring 22.5 metres in diameter and standing up to 0.4 metres high. The surrounding quarry ditch from which material to construct the mound was derived, is preserved as a buried feature.
