Two irregular shaped shallow earthwork depressions are visible on images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. One is approximately oval in shape circa 45m by 25m, and one is irregular in shape circa 40m across. The eastern depression corresponds partially with a sand pit depicted on the First Edition OS map, which by the Second Edition OS map is smaller is size. Both depressions are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs dating from the 1940s. The sand pit is no longer depicted on maps from the mid-20th century onwards. The depressions are interpreted as sand extraction pits of post-medieval to mid-20th century origin.
