Name: | Possible Field Boundary, Sunnybank House, Upottery |
---|
Summary
A possible former field boundary of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork bank and ditch on aerial photographs of 1996 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Sunnybank House, Upottery. The earthworks should be viewed with some caution and it is possible they are the result of modern drainage.

A possible former field boundary of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork bank and ditch on aerial photographs of 1996 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Sunnybank House, Upottery. The linear northwest to southeast aligned bank and ditch are sited on gentle southeast facing slope and generally respect the historic field patterns depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48, although appear to have passed out of use by this time. The earthworks should be viewed with some caution and it is possible they are the result of modern drainage, feeding into the River Otter.
