An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, to the southwest of Preston Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 83m in length by 48m in width. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, the orchard likely being established within the earthwork sometime after its abandonment. The earthwork pit is largely obscured by tree cover on aerial photographs, although is clearly visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. A pond is depicted here on modern digital mapping of 2016.
