The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Preston Farm. The earthwork is semi-circular in shape and measures approximately 26m in length by 20m in width. The earthwork is not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to thick tree cover here.
