Several linear and curvilinear earthwork banks and ditches, up to 2 metres in width, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and partly on aerial photographs taken from 1996. They fit into the field pattern as depicted on the historic mapping, which has been characterised as of medieval origin and based on strip fields. On the west, a slight bank and more substantial adjacent ditch are located close and broadly parallel to the modern road, and this may be the remains of an earlier routeway. The other banks and ditches are interpreted as the remains of medieval field boundaries which, as they are not depicted on the historic mapping, went out of use by the mid-19th century. The easternmost curvilinear ditch widens at its eastern end and it is unclear whether this has been impacted by later quarrying.
