An extraction pit of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Rosshayne Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 90m in length by 40m in width. The southern extent of the earthwork is partly depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of approximately 1838-48 and so clearly pre-dates this map. This map also shows an area of woodland was present here, which was likely established within the pit following its abandonment. The extraction pit remains covered in woodland and is not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
