Six irregular earthwork pits, between 24 and 37 metres across, are visible on aerial photographs taken from 1947 and more clearly on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. They are interpreted as the remains of extractive pits, although it is not clear what materials were being extracted. One pit corresponds to an area depicted as trees on the Tithe map, suggesting that extraction predated the mid-19th century.
