An extraction pit of likely post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, at Kitts Farm. The semi-circular shaped earthwork measures approximately 16m in length by 14m in width. Clay pits are depicted in the vicinity here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, which gives a good indication as to the likely use of the earthwork.
