Possible former field boundaries were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as low linear earthwork banks on the south-east-facing slopes of the Otter Valley, south of Old Spurtham Farm, Luppit parish. The banks are circa 3 metres wide and in places might be flanked by narrow drainage ditches, but these possible earthworks were too diffuse to transcribe. The easternmost bank appears to be an extension of the very regular extant field boundary to the north, and is probably of a contemporary post-medieval date. The boundaries are not transcribed on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map and were therefore probably removed prior to the 1880s. The line of this former boundary is visible as a pale cropmark on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2010 but the former banks have probably been levelled.
