A possible former field boundary of medieval date or modern drainage ditch is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, at Baxters Farm. The curvilinear earthwork is northwest to southeast aligned and closely respects the historic field patterns depicted here on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48, in particular the strip field to the immediate northeast, although appears to have passed out of use by this time. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project has classified this area as comprising ‘Medieval enclosures based on strip fields’. The nature of this earthwork does appear, however, to resemble a modern drainage ditch, although it is possible it utilises the line of a former medieval field boundary.
