A cluster of earthworks of possible open cast ironstone pits of potential Iron Age to Medieval date are visible on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the west of Harvestwood Farm. The concentration of earthworks occupies an area of approximately 0.25 hectares of northwest facing slope, adjacent to a copse. The earthworks comprise a series of small and shallow earthwork pits typically around 2.5m in length, although some up to 8m in length. Given the poor clarity of the earthworks here which are also likely intercutting, it was not possible to individually record each of the features. Instead the features were defined by an extent of area. Quantities of slag have been recovered within the adjacent field to the northeast, suggesting iron working was present here. Further investigation such as a site visit is recommended to help establish the nature and character of these earthworks. They were not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
