Full description

A shallow earthwork pit was visible.

A probable former extractive pit was visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards as a roughly oval earthwork pit approximately 75 by 38 metres in size, on the south-west-facing slopes below Gorehayes Farm, Upottery parish.
The pit did not correspond with any pit depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map or Tithe Map for Upottery and was therefore probably of post-medieval to mid-19th century date.
