A shallow irregular earthwork pit, circa 100 by 50 metres in maximum visible extent, are visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. The Tithe map depicts this area as a small tree-filled enclosure and mature trees are still depicted here, although some of the field boundaries are not, on the late 19th century OS maps. The earthwork is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit that went out of use before the mid-19th century.
