Possible extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1982 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Rosshayne Farm. The two adjacent earthworks are broadly rectilinear in shape, are located either side of an historic field boundary and have been cut into the side of steep southwest facing slope. That to the northwest measures approximately 52m in length by 30m in width, whilst that to the southeast approximately 25m in length by 21m in width. The earthworks do not appear to be of natural origin and are located in the immediate vicinity of two other possible extraction pits (MDV116419) to the northeast, although have been recorded separately given their different character.
