A shallow irregular earthwork pit, circa 52 by 22 metres, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. The Tithe map depicts this area adjacent to the field boundary with a semi-circular dashed line, and mature trees are depicted here on the late 19th century OS maps. The earthwork is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit that went out of use around the mid-19th century.
