Possible extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Tiphayes Farm. The two sub-oval shaped earthworks are situated within woodland adjacent to a road, on moderate southeast facing slope. A number of similar such features have been recorded along the edge of this woodland to the northeast (MDV116586)and appear to represent a series of small, short-lived workings. A sand pit is also depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. They are not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey owing to tree cover here.
