Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Middle Luxton. An orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, although appears to have been completely cleared by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The faintly defined earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established, are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.29 hectares of east facing slope. The earthwork banks are not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to this survey.
