Name:Building north of Emsworthy Rocks, Ilsington

Summary

Sited on the gently sloping western crest of land which extends between Emsworthy Rocks and Holwell Tor, a ruined, crudely build rectangular structure with a small external enclosure on the SW side. The building sits obliquely into the slope of the hillside and a has internal dimensions of 6.8m by 3.5m. The turf-covered dry-stone walls stand to a height of 0.8m in places. Opposing entrance openings are visible on the SW and NE sides. The U shape enclosure measures up to 5m wide by 6.5m long and has a protruding entrance at the point where it joins the building. Likely post-Medieval in date.

(30/05/1999) Centred SX 7512 7718. Sited on the gently sloping western crest of land which extends between Emsworthy Rocks and Holwell Tor, a ruined, crudely build rectangular structure with a small external enclosure on the SW side.
