A large earthwork pit, approximately 41 by 52 metres in extent, is visible on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014 and less distinctly on aerial photographs taken from 1947 onwards. It is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit, in common with many others in the vicinity, although it is not clear what materials were being extracted. It roughly corresponds with a rectilinear plot of woodland depicted on the Tithe map and recorded as orchard, suggesting that extraction had ceased and the area been reused for fruit trees by the mid-19th century.
