Full description

Ordnance Survey, 1880-1899, First Edition Ordnance 25 inch map (Cartographic). SDV336179.

Barrow not depicted although the other two in the group are.


Grinsell, L. V., 1970, The Barrows of North Devon, 113 (Article in Serial). SDV7849.

Visited 4th April 1969. Barrow C: diameter 28 paces, height 6 inches.


Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division, 1977, SS31SE 2 (Ordnance Survey Archaeology Division Card). SDV337882.

Visited on 10th October 1977. Remains ploughed down and spread around. Diameter 27 metres, height 0.3 metres.


Devon Committee for Rescue Archaeology, 1979 - 1981, North Devon Barrow Survey, DCRA ND10 (Archive - Survey). SDV341310.

Site visit 19th November 1979. Now almost completely eradicated diameter 24.3 metres, height 0.28 metres.

Department for Culture, Media and Sport, 1999, Three Bowl Barrows 250 Metres West of Bower (Schedule Document). SDV337878.

The southern one of three bowl barrows on a high ridge location overlooking the valley of Weasel Water, a tributary to the River Torridge. The three barrows all survive as circular or oval mounds with their surrounding quarry ditches being preserved as buried features. The southern barrow measures 25.9 metres in diameter and is 0.4 metres high.
