A possible former boundary ditch was visible on aerial photographs of the 1940s as a cropmark of a possible banked ditch on the gentle south-east facing slopes south-east of Whitedown Cross, Hemyock.
The visible cropmark of the ditch was circa 5 metres wide and visible for nearly 170 metres on a north-east to south-west orientation, flanked on either side for short distances by the cropmarks of possible levelled earthwork banks of similar width.
The cropmarks did not correspond with any boundary depicted on the Ordnance Survey First Edition 25 inch map or Tithe Map for Luppitt and were on a different alignment to all depicted boundaries.
The boundary had therefore probably passed out of use prior to the mid-19th century, but the date of the feature is unknown and could be considerably earlier. The cropmark was not noted on any other images available to the survey.
