Possible extraction pits of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the east of Tiphayes Farm. The larger of the earthworks to the north is irregular in shape and measures approximately 68m in length by 37m in width. Part of this earthwork is depicted on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48, which also depicts this area as comprising an orchard, the trees likely being established within the earthwork pit following its abandonment. The remaining two earthworks measure between 25m to 30m in length and are located to the immediate south. A number of similar such features have been recorded further to the north.
