Former field boundaries of likely post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as a series of earthwork banks on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, on Sandpit Hill. The linear and curvilinear earthwork boundaries are typically northwest to southeast and northeast to southwest aligned. The earthworks are largely depicted on either the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48 or the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, and are unlikely to be of any great age. Additional and contiguous elements of these boundaries not depicted on historic mapping were, however, visible which necessitated the recording of the full extent of these earthworks.
