Two short lengths of possible former field boundary of probable post-medieval date were visible on aerial photographs of 1947 as roughly west to east aligned narrow earthwork banks approximately 270 metres apart on the west-facing combe slopes overlooking the Madford River, east of Rough Grey Bottom, Dunkeswell parish.
The earthworks did not correspond with any boundaries depicted on the Ordnance Survey 25inch First Edition map and might therefore be evidence of field boundaries that had passed out of use and been removed prior to circa 1890. The earthworks might also have been cut by small scale extractive pits of probable early to mid-20th century date.
The banks cannot be confidently identified as earthworks on digital images derived from aerial photographs of 2014 and have probably been levelled.
