A former field boundary of possible medieval to post-medieval date is visible as two earthwork ditches on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Newcott Farm. The linear earthwork ditches are northwest to southeast aligned and appear to form part of a single boundary. The earthwork field boundary is not depicted on the Parish Tithe map of 1838-48, which appears to be un-surveyed here, but certainly appears to have passed out of use by the time of the Ordnance Survey First Edition map of the 1880’s-90’s. The subtle earthworks were not clearly visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to the survey.
