A possible trackway of uncertain, but possible medieval to early post-medieval, date is visible as a series of earthwork ditches on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards, between Collyforches Farm and Beacon, Yarcombe. Faint traces of the trackway are partly visible on aerial photographs, although are most clearly seen on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016. The fragmented linear and slight curvilinear earthworks stretch from the northeast side of Collyforches Farm, within a copse, towards the northeast, passing Higher Collyforches Farm and up to Red Scrip plantation where the earthworks terminate, at an approximate length of 1.19km. The route of the trackway clearly pre-dates the field patterns depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map based on post-medieval enclosures, so are pre-Inclosure in date. Better defined earthworks of an additional trackway have been recorded further to the southwest (MDV116413) and most likely form part of the same feature. The multiple sections of parallel ditches visible may suggest the trackway was subject to episodes of re-routing, perhaps governed by wet ground conditions. The date of the possible trackway has been tentatively interpreted as being of medieval origin, although could be earlier in date.
