An alignment of boundary stones running across the northern sector of Haytor Down between Green Lane and the Becka Brook, marking the Ilsington/Bovey Tracey and Ilsington/Manaton parish boundaries. The boundary follows in part the course of a prehistoric reave (SX 77 NE 31) across the southern ridge of the Black Hill spur and also coincides with that of the Saxon manor of Natsworthy. Several stones in the group were erected by the owner of the manor in the 1850s, the Duke of Somerset to demarcate the limit of his estate. The stones erected by the Duke are all of dressed granite standing to 0.9m high, with semi-circular tops. each has the inscription DS 1853 on the N face and an individual name on the south. These are from W to E:
SX 7564 7850 Hole Stone (only letters DS crudely inscribed); SX 7617 7835 Prince of Wales; SX 7660 7827 Victoria; SX 7689 7807 Old Jack; SX 7710 7792 Old William; SX 7764 7765 Oldburrow; SX 7784 7755 Prince Albert.
Two unnamed stones are sited at the extreme east of the alignment at SX 7806 7737 and SX 7796 777 and others in the boundary, probably not erected by the Duke, are a stone called Writenol, according to Brewer (1986), which marks the junction of the three parishes with I, M or B inscribed on the appropriate face at SX 7634 7831; Long Pool sited near the Becka Brook at SX 7491 7810. For plan see RCHME 1999.
