Extraction pits of possible post-medieval to 19th century date are visible as earthwork pits on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, within Underdown Moor. The two adjacent and irregular shaped earthworks measure approximately 48m in length by 33m in width (southern earthwork) and approximately 47m in length by 27m in width (northern earthwork). A possible trackway is visible leading into the southern of the two earthworks. The earthworks are located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded during this project. The earthworks are obscured by tree cover of Underdown Moor and were not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to this survey. The earthworks recorded here are likely the same as those features identified within record MDV56377.
