The extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit.

An extraction pit of possible post-medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork pit on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Underdown Farm within Underdown Moor. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 63m in length by 20m in width and is located in an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded during this project. The earthwork is largely obscured by tree cover of Underdown Moor and was not visible on aerial photographs or other digital images made available to this survey. The earthwork recorded here likely forms part of the group of features identified here within record MDV56377.
