A roughly semi-circular earthwork pit, circa 16 by 30 metres in extent, is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1947 and on images derived from lidar data captured between 1998 and 2014. It is interpreted as the remains of an extractive pit. The approximate area of the pit is depicted as a scrubby area on the late-19th century mapping, suggesting that it may have been abandoned and scrubbed up by the end of the 19th century.
