A possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southwest of Broadley Farm. The sub-oval shaped earthwork measures approximately 48m in length by 35m in width and is located alongside a former historic field boundary, within an area where a number of similar such features have been recorded during this survey. A number of gravel pits are also depicted in the vicinity here on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, which gives a good indication as to the likely use of this earthwork.
