A possible post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible as an earthwork pit on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the southeast of Broadley Farm. The irregular shaped earthwork measures approximately 64m in length by 56m in width and abuts, and so likely post-dates, an historic field boundary along its eastern edge. The irregular shape of the earthwork may suggest it is possibly composed of several intercutting pits. A gravel pit is depicted in close proximity here on the Ordnance Survey First Edition map, which gives a good indication as to the likely use of this earthwork.
