Possible tree-planting banks of a former post-medieval to 19th century orchard are visible as a series of linear earthwork banks on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northeast of Profits Down Farm. Although no orchard is depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map of between the 1880’s-90’s, possibly passing out of use by this time, one is located in the immediate vicinity to the southeast (MDV114668), which gives good indication as to the likely function of these earthworks. The earthwork banks, on which the fruit trees were established for increased soil depth and improved drainage, are northeast to southwest aligned and occupy an area of approximately 0.12 hectares of fairly level ground, within a single rectilinear shaped plot depicted on the First Edition OS map.
