An earthwork pit of a possible former medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1947 onwards and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the northwest of Peterhayes Farm. The well-defined earthwork is oval in shape, measures approximately 60m in length by 50m in width and is situated on moderate east facing slope. There is, however, some uncertainty as to the nature of this earthwork and it is equally possible it represents a natural hollow.
