An earthwork pit of a possible former post-medieval to 19th century extraction pit is visible on aerial photographs of 1982 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the south of Four Elms. It is located in close proximity to an ‘Old Marl Pit’ depicted here on the First Edition Ordnance Survey map, which gives good indication as to the likely use of this earthwork.
