A possible former field boundary of between medieval to 19th century date is visible as an earthwork ditch on aerial photographs of 1947 and on digital images derived from lidar data captured in 2016, to the south of Lower Moorhayne. The earthwork ditch is northeast to southwest aligned and is situated on gentle northeast facing slope. The digital Parish Tithe map is incomplete here, so it is not possible to determine whether this field boundary was extant by this time, although it does appear to have passed out of use by the time of the First Edition Ordnance Survey map. The Historic Landscape Characterisation project has classified this area as comprising ‘medieval enclosures based on strip fields’.
